Scholarship applicants must:
Teach in the Central States region (AR, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, MI, MN, MO, NE, ND, OH, SD, WI).
Be a practicing teacher with a teaching load of at least 50% in the foreign language department.
Attend the 2027 Conference in Lansing, MI (March 11-13, 2027) and accept the scholarship at the Awards presentation.
Present a 50-minute session highlighting the scholarship experience (sharing information and materials) at the 2028 Central States Conference OR create an online presentation or video about the experience to post on the Central States website.
How to apply: Complete online application no later than January 15, 2027. Online application components include:
Current professional resume or curriculum vitae detailing professional commitment and significant involvement in the teaching of a foreign language (conference/workshop participation, curriculum development). (Note: participation in the Central States organization and/or attendance at past conferences will be advantageous and should be noted).
Evidence of how the experience will enhance your teaching explained in a written statement of not more than 200 words.
Evidence of institutional support in the form of a letter of endorsement from an administrator or department chairperson.

Centro MundoLengua Scholarship - Spanish Teacher Training in Spain
Centro MundoLengua is an international Spanish school and educational tour operator based in Seville, accredited by the Cervantes Institute, that offers study abroad and authentic Spanish immersion opportunities in Spain for students from across the world of all ages & levels. We provide options for individuals and customizable group programs for middle school / high school, university, adults, and Spanish teachers.
Centro MundoLengua is offering one scholarship for 2027. The scholarship is available to middle school / high school / college Spanish teachers or future middle school / high school / college Spanish teachers. Our main goal is to ensure that the recipient of this scholarship learns pertinent information to be brought back and shared with his/her students.
Centro MundoLengua is providing Spanish teacher training in Seville and Madrid. The scholarship recipient can choose whichever program he/she prefers, although some conditions apply. Here are the 3 different options:
I) AP® Spanish Language and Culture Workshop in Seville

The scholarship recipient can only opt for this option if he/she is a high school teacher who is currently teaching AP® Spanish Language and Culture, or who plans to teach it in the near future.
The scholarship includes:
30 hours of AP® Spanish development
Cultural activities

II) AP® Spanish Literature and Culture Workshop in Seville

After completing this experience, the recipient is required to share information and materials obtained from the experience with Central States, either as a session at the 2028 conference or an online presentation or video posted on the Central States website. Preference for this award will be given to non-native speakers of Spanish. Scholarship candidates must teach in the Central States region.
ECOS Spanish and English School Scholarship
ECOS is an international Spanish language school and educational provider based in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. Accredited by EAQUALS. ECOS offers high-quality Spanish immersion and study abroad programs for students of all ages and proficiency levels from around the world.
We offer programs for individual students as well as fully customizable group experiences for children, teenagers, university students, and adults seeking an authentic cultural and linguistic immersion in Colombia. In addition to teaching Spanish to international students, ECOS also provides English language courses for Colombian learners.
For the 2027/2028 academic year, ECOS is pleased to offer one scholarship for a high school or university Spanish teacher. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide the recipient with first-hand experience of our programs, teaching methodology, and Colombian culture, enabling them to share this knowledge with their students and institution upon their return.
Dates:
The scholarship is valid for travel between April 2027 and March 2028. The recipient may redeem the scholarship for a two-week stay during this period, subject to availability.
The preferred travel dates must be requested at least one month in advance and are subject to written confirmation by ECOS.
Package includes:
Enrollment in the program, two weeks of class observation, accommodation in the school's studio apartment, daily lunch (Monday–Friday), and weekly laundry service.
A variety of complimentary cultural activities, including a dance class, a guided city tour, a Colombian cooking class, and our Friday Social & Cultural Exchange, where participants interact with fellow ECOS students from around the world.
Language exchange opportunities with Colombian students, providing participants with authentic conversational practice while fostering meaningful cultural exchange and immersion.
Selection Criteria:
The scholarship recipient must be a Spanish teacher at a high school, university, or adult education institution.
Upon completion of the study abroad program, the scholarship recipient is required to submit a short testimonial video highlighting their experience at ECOS, along with a selection of photographs that may be used for promotional and educational purposes.
The scholarship includes:
Cultural activities as part of the immersion experience.
Support and assistance during school operating hours.
All required class materials for the program.
Optional activities, for which participants are responsible for sharing the costs of transportation and entrance fees to the respective venues.
Expenses not covered by the scholarship include: transportation to and from Cartagena de Indias, Colombia (including round-trip airfare), dinner expenses, and any personal expenses incurred during the stay.

The Goethe-Institut Scholarship supports K–16 teachers of German by providing a one- or two-week professional development course at a Goethe-Institut in Germany during 2027.

Applicants must:
Be members of AATG (American Association of Teachers of German).
Teach German at the K–16 level.
Teach German as their primary subject
Be currently teaching in the Central States region.
Preference will be given to non-native speakers of German.
Recipient Expectations
Upon completion of the program, the scholarship recipient must share the knowledge and materials gained through one of the following:
A presentation at the 2028 Central States Conference, or
An online presentation or video to be posted on the Central States website.

Maximizing Language and Cultural Competency through Educational Travel to Peru (One Scholarship Available)
Program description:
The scholarship consists of a two-week program in the imperial city of Cuzco, Perú including a
Spanish language immersion experience and Indigenous Andean Culture course; a home stay;
and four (4) hours of instruction.
Teachers can apply for graduate credits through New Mexico State University. (Contact us for
details)
Dates: Scholarship limited to July 4 to 17, 2027
Package includes:
Registration, tuition for two weeks, housing with host family (double occupancy), breakfast and
dinner each day, laundry service once a week
Other expenses not included:
Round-trip travel to Cuzco; lunches; transfers in from Cuzco airport, personal expenses.
Selection Criteria:
• The scholarship recipient must teach in grades 11-12 or at the university level.
• Preference for this award will be given to non-native speakers of Spanish.
• After completing the study-abroad program, the scholarship recipient is required to
submit a short video on INSTAGRAM, LINKEDIN & YOUTUBE, highlighting the various
components of the experience with photos.

$1,000 Travel Scholarship for Cultural Experience and French Language Immersion in Francophone Africa
Program Description
Vive l'expérience is an educator-led travel company offering transformational French language immersion programs in Senegal and Tunisia. Founded by a veteran French teacher, our programs connect educators with local students, teachers, writers, artists, story-tellers, and families for authentic cultural and linguistic exchanges.
Vive l'expérience is offering one $1,000 scholarship in 2027 toward participation in our 2027 or 2028 program in Senegal. This scholarship is available to K-12 or university French language educators, teaching at least part-time. Our goal is to ensure the recipient gains meaningful cultural and linguistic experiences to enrich their personal and professional lives that they can share with their students upon their return. New locations may be offered for this travel scholarship if currently offered by Vive at time of application.
Dates
Please see our website for upcoming trip dates for 2027 and 2028. Program length: 5 – 14 days.
Scholarship Includes
$1,000 credit toward program costs, which covers: accommodations, most meals, all in-country transportation, guided cultural excursions, workshops, meetings with local experts, and 24-hour in-country support.
Not included: Round-trip airfare to destination; visa fees if applicable; some meals; travel & medical evacuation insurance, personal and health-related expenses. Full program cost without airfare is approximately $3,500 - $3750.
