Vista Higher Learning Future Language Educator Scholarships
Do you know a high school senior or a college/university student who is thinking of making a career out of language instruction? Vista Higher Learning is delighted to work with Central States to offer two scholarship opportunities focused on celebrating the next generation of outstanding language teachers. An award of $1,000 each will be presented at the 2025 Central States annual conference in Kansas City, MO, to one outstanding high school senior and one outstanding college/university student who demonstrates a strong commitment to pursuing a career in language teaching (any language, including English as a second language, at any level of instruction). Encourage your students to submit an application today!
Vista Higher Learning Future Language Educator Scholarship (High School Senior)
Deadline for applications: January 15
Recipient to be announced at the 2025 Central States Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Requirements:
Written statement (750 words maximum) about why you want to be a language teacher
Video link (3 minute maximum) in your language of study/L2 addressing the topic: What makes an A+ teacher? The video should focus entirely on the candidate while speaking. (no cut-away camera shots)
3 letters of recommendation (1 page maximum per letter) - 1 from a language teacher, 1 from a peer, 1 from another teacher or administrator at the school
Recent photo with written statement giving permission to use and reproduce
College or university you plan to attend and acceptance letter, if available

Current college transcript
List of community activities
A statement of your future plans to become a language teacher (750 words max)

Recommendation letter from an instructor or dean/department chair
Recommendation letter from peer
Recent photo with written statement giving permission to use and reproduce
