2023 Latino Schools Scholarship in Peru Scholarship

Latino Schools: Maximizing Language and Cultural Competency through Educational Travel to Peru - One scholarship available

Program Description:

A two-week Spanish language immersion experience and Indigenous Andean Culture or Regional Literature course including a home stay and four (4) hours of instruction per day.  Teachers may apply for Graduate credits through New Mexico State University.  The program consists of two weeks in the Imperial city of Cusco.

Dates: July 2 to 15, 2023


Scholarship includes:


Not included: Dinners; round-trip travel to Cusco; personal expenses.


Selection Criteria:

The scholarship recipient must teach in grades 11-12 or at the University level.  After completing this experience, the recipient is required to share information and materials obtained from the experience with Central States. The scholarship recipient is REQUIRED to submit a short video highlighting the various components of the experience with photos.

2023 Casa Xelajú Scholarship in Guatemala Scholarship

Study Spanish in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala

This scholarship will cover one-half the cost for two weeks of study, one-on-one instruction, five hours a day, five days a week, homestay with a local family, three meals a day, six days a week, daily social and cultural activities. There are more than 30 Spanish programs in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. The regular Spanish immersion program takes place all year. Dates are flexible because classes can start on any Monday year-round. Airfare and ground transportation are not included.

After completing this experience, the recipient is required to share information and materials obtained from the experience with Central States, either as a session at the 2024 conference or an online presentation or video posted on the Central States website. Preference for this award will be given to non-native speakers of Spanish. Scholarship candidates must teach in the Central States region.

2023 Centro Mundolengua Scholarship in Spain Scholarship

Initial Description


Centro MundoLengua is an international Spanish school and educational tour operator based in Seville, accredited by the Cervantes Institute, that offers study abroad and authentic Spanish immersion opportunities in Spain for students from across the world of all ages & levels. We provide options for individuals and customizable group programs for middle school / high school, university, adults, and Spanish teachers.


Centro MundoLengua is offering one scholarship for 2023. The scholarship is available to middle school / high school / college Spanish teachers or future middle school / high school / college Spanish teachers. Our main goal is to ensure that the recipient of this scholarship learns pertinent information to be brought back and shared with his/her students.


Centro Mundolengua is providing Spanish teacher trainings in Seville, Madrid, and Cadiz. The scholarship recipient can choose whichever program he/she prefers, although some conditions apply. Here are the 4 different options:


I) AP® Spanish Language and Culture Workshop in Seville


Dates: June 18 – July 1, 2023


The scholarship recipient can only opt for this option if he/she is a high school teacher who is currently teaching AP® Spanish Language and Culture, or who plans to teach it in the near future.


The scholarship includes:


• 30 hours of AP® Spanish development

• Full room and board with a host family

• Cultural activities

• 24 hour support

• Class materials

• College Board certificate

IV) Training course for Spanish teachers at the University of Cadiz.


Dates:


• June 25 – July 8, 2023 (Advanced Level). Program for Spanish teachers with experience or prior training, or those who wish to teach 

   students at an advanced level.

• July 9 – July 22, 2023 (Basic Level). Program for Spanish teachers without previous experience or prior training, or those who wish to 

   teach students at a novice level.

• July 23 – August 5, 2023 (Superior Level). Program for Spanish teachers with experience and prior training that would like to teach 

   students at a superior level.


These Spanish teacher trainings are available for Spanish teachers as well as future Spanish teachers in middle school, high school, colleges, and universities.


The scholarship includes:


• 50 hours of training (including face-to-face training and individual studying)

• Full room and board with a host family

• Cultural activities

• 24 hour support

• Class materials

• University certificate

• Airport transfer from/to Jerez de la Frontera

2023 Goethe Institut Scholarship in Germany Scholarship

Goethe-Institut Scholarship


This scholarship, available to teachers of German in levels K-16, provides a one- or two-week professional development course at one of the 12 Goethe-Institutes in Germany in 2023; full information about available courses and dates can be found here:  https://www.goethe.de/ins/us/en/spr/unt/ffd/sch/sti.html


The scholarship includes tuition, course materials, housing (varies depending on course location), breakfast every day and one main meal on Monday-Friday, cultural program, public transportation at seminar location, medical, accident and liability insurance for the duration of the seminar, coverage for transport home in case of illness. Not included: transportation to Germany and additional meals. Applicants must be members of AATG.


After completing this experience, the recipient is required to share information and materials obtained from the experience with CSCTFL, either as a session at the 2023 conference or an online presentation or video posted on the Central States website. Preference for this award will be given to non-native speakers of German. Scholarship candidates must teach in the Central States region.
