This Grant aims to promote and reward the best project-based learning (PBL). Innovative and impactful projects empower students to engage with language and culture while fostering global citizenship and sustainability.
Grant Criteria, Application Requirements & Recipient Responsibilities
Details:
Total Awards: Four grants of up to $500 each will be awarded.
Recipients: World Language teachers (K-12 and College level) within the Central States region.
Grant Purpose: Funding will support teachers in implementing their project-based learning initiatives.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicant Profile:
Current K-12 or College-level World Language teachers.
Must be employed at a school or institution within the Central States region.
Applicant’s state organization must be a state member of the Central States Advisory Council
Project Requirements:
Must demonstrate the integration of project-based learning (PBL) strategies in language teaching.
Projects should be aimed at fostering students’ communicative competence and cultural understanding while addressing real-world problems.
Application Requirements:
Application Form: Complete the official application form and supporting documents via link on this page by January 15, 2025.
Project Proposal:
Description of the PBL initiative (maximum 1,000 words).
Explanation of how the project tackles a real-world problem.
Objectives and expected outcomes.
Proposed timeline for implementation.
Budget detailing how the $500 grant will be used.
Supporting Documents: (Optional)
Any supplementary materials such as lesson plans, student work samples, or past project examples.
Judging Criteria:
Applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
Innovation in Language Teaching – Creativity in using PBL to engage students in meaningful language learning.
Sustainability – The potential for the project to be sustained or scaled over time.
Student Engagement – Level of student involvement and the expected educational benefits.
Feasibility – Realistic planning, timeline, and use of grant funds.
Important Dates:
Application Deadline: January 15, 2025
Winners Announced: by February 15, 2025
Project Implementation Period: February 15, 2025 – December 31, 2025
Grant Recipient Responsibilities:
Recipient agrees to submit a report by December 31, 2025, including:
A summary of outcomes and lessons learned.
Documentation of how the grant funds were used.
Photos or videos of the project in action.
Recipient agrees to participate in a webinar with the other grant recipients showcasing the project in the spring of 2026.
