The CSC Local Arrangements Committee welcomes you to Dearborn, Michigan.  Our conference hotel, The Hyatt Regency Dearborn, is a beautiful venue for our annual conference.  Newly renovated and beautifully appointed, it is located in the heart of the historic town of Dearborn, just nine miles east of Detroit Metropolitan Airport. The spacious Fairlane Town Center Mall is located just minutes away from the Hyatt; there is a courtesy shuttle to take guests to the Mall.  On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights participate in the diversity of this great region of our country by choosing from the exciting excursions described below.  All restaurant fees listed include transportation, tax, and gratuity. Sangría Restaurant Excursion

Join your colleagues on a trip to Sangría, one of the most popular restaurants in nearby Royal Oak.  Enjoy a wonderful meal of tapas frías y calientes, paella, and sangría.  View a beautiful Flamenco dance show during dinner and afterwards take Latin dance lessons in a more relaxed atmosphere with a Salsa DJ.

Richter’s Chalet Excursion

Return to the Hyatt around 10:30 p.m.


Visit one of Southeastern Michigan’s favorite restaurants, presented in a chalet-type setting.  Choose from a tantalizing assortment of German specialties: Jaeger Schnitzel, Rindsroulade, Austrian Sauerbraten, or Chicken Cordon Bleu.  With your entrée enjoy a tossed salad, potato dumplings, red cabbage, sauerkraut, and the chef’s choice of vegetable served family style. Top off this feast with Schwarzwaelder Kirsch Torte (Black Forest cherry torte).  Enjoy coffee, tea, or soda included with your meal.  Nonalcoholic German beers are also available for an extra fee.

La Cuisine French Restaurant Excursion

Windsor, Canada

Sample authentic French specialties at this quaint, second-floor restaurant in Windsor, Canada.  Your passport is a must for this excursion!  Enjoy a complete meal including your choice of Coq au vin, filet of salmon in a creamy dill sauce, or filet of beef topped with sauce béarnaise.  Fresh bread, salad  or soup, a crêpe, and coffee, tea, or soft drinks are included.  You can also view the chef preparing your food in an open kitchen setting.  You will love this restaurant, the personal favorite of this year’s Entertainment Committee and one of the favorites of CSC 1992 attendees.  Remember that your passport is required to participate!

Greek Town on Foot, Las Vegas Style

We’ll take you by bus to the famous Greek Town area of Detroit where you will have 5 hours to explore, dine, and even pretend you are in Las Vegas!  You will receive $15 in Casino cash, which you can use to try your luck at the Greek Town Casino or to eat in the casino’s restaurant.  Many fine Greek restaurants, specialty bakeries, and other shops make this two-block long neighborhood unique. Price includes transportation only.

Friday Night at the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA)

Depart from the Hyatt at 5:30 p.m.

Return to the Hyatt at 9:30 p.m.


Friday nights at the DIA are very special.  Enjoy an evening of art, music, and dining.  Explore a variety of activities including performances, storytelling, music, gallery talks, artist demonstrations, drawing in the galleries, and drop-in workshops. La Shish Restaurant Excursion

Enjoy plentiful servings of traditional Lebanese cuisine at the award winning La Shish restaurant.  This feast will include hommous, baba gannouj, tabbouli, stuffed grape leaves, Fattouch salad, lamb, chicken, and beef kabobs, lamb chops, deboned chicken, shish kafta, shrimp, rice pilaf, bread, nonalcoholic beverage, and your choice of the following for dessert:  rice pudding, baklava, crème caramel, chocolate cake, cream cake, carrot or potato cake.  You won’t want to miss this taste-of-Lebanon excursion!

Partake of a buffet including vegetable samosa, pakora, tandoori chicken, lamb curry, palak paneer, alu gobi, channa masala, rice, Indian breads, and for dessert rice pudding and gulabjaman.  A nonalcoholic beverage is included with your dinner.

Tenny Street Roadhouse Restaurant and Concert Excursion

Return to the Hyatt at midnight.


Enjoy great Cajun cuisine and a fabulous concert at the Tenny Street Roadhouse!  Your meal will include an appetizer, jambalaya, Louisiana chicken pasta, choice of side dish, and a dessert.  They are famous for their caramelized bourbon pecan pie.  Choose from coffee, iced tea, or soft drinks for your beverage. After dinner join the fun in the concert hall of the roadhouse. Your ticket includes both dinner and the show. The Tenny Street Roadhouse brings you the best in American music to celebrate good food and great times.  Entertainment varies each week.

George and Harry’s Jazz/Blues Cafe

Spend the evening at a wonderful club for dinner and easy listening to the sweet sounds of jazz or blues. This promises to be a great experience.  Choose your entrée from the following list: Prime Rib, Great Lakes whitefish, chicken fettucine alfredo, or farfalle primavera.  Each entrée includes accompaniment, salad, fresh-baked bread, coffee, tea, or soft drinks.  The show begins at 10:30, and you’ll love the entertainment that varies from jazz to blues.
