The 2006 Central States Conference will offer many opportunities for teachers of world languages to learn new techniques, update their knowledge of standards and testing, and learn about traditional and action research being undertaken. You can document and make use of this experience for either graduate credit or as continuing education for licensure or professional development.
Graduate Credit
You can earn graduate credit by enrolling through Elmhurst College. Graduate credit will be available for a one-credit course. Participants may register at the low price of $175 for “World Languages and Professional Development.” Each course will involve participation in 13 hours of pedagogical topics (sessions, workshops, keynote, and conference luncheon speeches) at the 2006 Central States Conference and completion of an appropriate summary and reflection paper to be completed by March 31, 2006. Contact Professor Earl Thompson if you have questions: earlt@elmhurst.edu. The course description and the registration forms can be accessed through the Elmhurst College School for Advanced Learning Web site: www.elmhurst.edu/sal.
Continuing Education
Your state or school district may approve this conference experience for your professional development or licensure. K-12 teachers should first check with their own district to make sure that they are following the
appropriate steps to receive approval for conference participation to fulfill their local professional development requirements. The Central States Conference will provide documentation of attendance so that as many teachers as possible in the Central States Conference region can benefit directly and immediately from the conference for their professional development.
